Painted in Geneva in 1860. Rosenlaui in the canton of Berne, where the Reichenbach flows down from the Wetterhorn, was one of the artist's favourite subjects. The sportsman and goats were added by Auguste Bonheur (1824-84) who was the brother of Rosa Bonheur.
