Neil Armstrong’s glove dip forms. Gloves for the A7L space suit were custom-made for each astronaut. Black rubber hand shapes were made from a cast of the astronaut’s hands then inserted into a nylon glove and dipped in a rubber/neoprene compound. This created the interior pressure bladder of the gloves used with the A7L space suit. Neil Armstrong, commander of Apollo 11, became the first man to walk on the Moon on July 20, 1969.
