The image shows part of a facade of the Huaca de la Luna ("Temple of the Moon") in Trujillo, Peru, which has been built by the Moche people of northern Peru.
In the Moche cosmovision the goddess of spider, through its ability of creating webs, teaches women the art of weaving, which for the female Andean world becomes a way of mastering time and space. In fact, through woven textiles women communicate their memories and the organisation of the territory.
