Square piano

Square pianos were the most common type of piano in Britain for over 100 years. They suited use in the home, where they would stand with their back along the wall – the decoration on the front and ends is not continued along the spine. The single pedal is for raising the dampers, like the right pedal on a modern upright instrument.
