View of the second St. Charles Hotel in the 200 block of St. Charles Avenue in the Central Business District. The building was designed by George Purves, Henry Howard, and Isaiah Rogers in the Greek revival style with large columns and capitols, and built in 1853. Also visible are buildings in the 100 block of St. Charles Avenue with ironwork balconies and galleries, clothing and hat stores, and carriages parked along the curb of the unpaved street.
