St. John the Baptist it the last prophet of the Old Testament and the first of the New Law. In Christian art he is represented as a child, as a young playmate of Child Jesus, or as an adult. His personal attribute is the Divine Lamb resting on his left arm. The naturalistic carving of this small figure shapes him as a child wearing a camel skin.
