St. Lawrence's martyrdom

Figurative panel from the nave of the Church of St. Lawrence in Carnide, Lisbon, representing the martyrdom of St. Lawrence. Its author, Policarpo de Oliveira Bernardes, is one of the most representative figures of the so-called Cycle of Masters, who between 1700 and 1725 produced panels of tiles of exceptional quality, destined for domestic consumption, responding to a demanding clientele with economic power.
