St. Nicholas holds a text of the Bible with his left hand corresponding, as the usual iconography says, to the beginning of the gospel of Luke. To her left the figure of Christ, Who is handing him this sacred book. On the other side the Virgin holds out his omophor, the emblem as bishop.
