The panel, almost certainly a minor section of a polyptych, represents, on a gold background, St. Peter Martyr, a Dominican monk, slightly turned to the right to show his wounded head, holding a sacred text with a red cover and gilt corners; in his left hand he carries two palm leaves, symbol of martyrdom.
