This earthenware tile with cream glaze depicts 55 Broadway, the headquarters of London Transport (L.T.). The tile was used at platform level at St Paul's Underground station, and designed by Harold Stabler, who was commissioned to design a series of 18 relief patterns to complement plain tiled walls. Tiles like these were fitted to stations built between 1938 and 1946.
