According to the Second Vienna Award (30 August 1940), the northern part of Transylvania, annexed to Romania by the 1920 Trianon Treaty, was returned to Hungary. In the autumn of 1940, one of the priorities of the Forced Labor Service operating within the Hungarian Defense Forces was the deconstruction of the Romanian bunkers and roadblocks built between 1920 and 1940. This happened also in the area of Székelyhíd.
