The statue of Horsatutu undoubtedly ranks as one of the most ambitious works commissioned by private individuals in the late Ptolomaic period. [...] The inscription on the back pillar identifies the sculpture as a portrait of Horos, who was both commander of the troops in the delta and a priest of the goddess Neith in Sais. The statue was originally placed in that goddess’s temple. […] Alterations to the sculpture most likely relate to its secondary placement in Augustan Alexandria, where it was found.
