Golden Years of Pakistani Cinema

Following Partition, the film industry in Pakistan suffered gravely. Majority of the industry professionals were Hindus who migrated to India. Fortunately a number of talented Muslims who had established themselves in Bombay, migrated to Lahore and were able to sustain the industry. The 50’s can be seen as the formative years of Pakistani cinema which established the foundation of the film industry in Pakistan.
