Starboard 4 inch guns of HMS BELFAST open fire on German positions around Ver-sur-Mer on the night of 27 June 1945.

More than 1,000 warships bombarded the enemy defences during and after D-Day, including six battleships, nineteen cruisers and nearly 100 destroyers. Most of them were British or Canadian. Today, HMS Belfast is part of Imperial War Museums.
