Out of the numerous religious and secular buildings built between 1211 and 1222 to host a monastery and its university, today only the church of Sourp Astvatsatsin with its vast gavit (narthex)
and the little church of St. Kiraki are conserved, both in a severe state of deterioration that endangers the visitors and the survival of the monuments themselves.
