Because of its size and its flamboyant decoration, this metal belt stands out in comparison to the otherwise plain-looking grave goods of the Pre-Roman Iron Age. The deceased owned a splendid yet unwieldy piece of jewellery which was presumably worn only on special occasions. Such belts imitated celtic belts; because they are not so widespread, they are called “Holstein Belts”.
