Statue of a wounded warrior

I century A.D.

Musei Capitolini

Musei Capitolini
Rome, Italy

The torso constitutes the only ancient part of this prestigious and famous statue. It seems to be an optimal reworking of the Discobolos that Myron made in 460 BC. The interpretation of the statue as a wounded warrior in the moment of falling is the product of the reworking of the sculpture of Pierre-Etienne Monnot, who lived from 1658 to 1733
