This partial statue of Apollo replicates a popular statue-type known as the Apollo of Anzio. It depicts the god nude, leaning against a tree trunk covered by his chlamys (cloak), which is pinned with a large circular brooch. A serpent emerges at the base. When complete, it would originally have shown Apollo holding a kithara (lyre) in one hand and a plectrum in the other.
