This marble statue of the Prince Consort was executed by an eminent British sculptor M. Noble and presented to the Museum by Sir David Sassoon in 1864. Prince Albert is flanked by the Muse of Art and the Muse of Science, representing the principles of industrial progress. The inscription on the statue reads "Dear to Science, dear to art, dear to thy land and ours, a Prince indeed".
