From the Artist: Early on, when “Covid-19” had just started to become part of our everyday vocabulary, I kept thinking that it would go away next week... maybe next month? When this didn’t happen, it was then that I realized our lives would be very different. I began feeling some anxiety, holed up inside, unable to see family and friends. As a way of coping with these feelings, I turned to visualization meditation, a technique used to reduce stress. I hoped that would bring a clear image to mind...of a place where I’d like to be. I remembered visiting a place in Kennebunkport, Maine one summer. This particular spot was serene, calm and peaceful, so that’s where I focused. Being an artist, I went a step further and began painting. I started to remember the rowboats, the water and the feeling of the fresh air. The process of painting was therapeutic for me as I revisited that “happy place.” A place where I could go to get away, relax and breathe (no masks required!). A place where I could stay for as long as I’d like.
