Steam engines provided the drive energy for all machines in the factory. They were regarded as the "engine" of industrialization and stood for progress and unchecked economic growth. But at what price? The DASA steam engine from 1889 consumed 150 kilograms of coal per hour. Here was the heater at work, whose workplace offered just about everything, which characterized bad working conditions.
