The steamer Miguel M. de Pinillos was built at the J. Laing shipyard in Sunderland (England) on commission from the shipowners Pinillos, who received it in 1885. Technical details: length 109 m., beam 13.79 m., depth 9,43 m., total tonnage 2,999 t. (2,125 nett), and powered by 1200 hp motors at a speed of 11 knots. It was used for the Caribbean line, which it subsequently sailed for over 30 years almost without incident. However, after the Great War (and a period in which it was moored at port) the shipowner Pinillos sold it to the Basque shipowners Abrizqueta & Compañía, who renamed it Juan Abrizqueta. The vessel sailed for a further three years until it was scrapped in Holland in 1923.
