Recently there has been lots of debate concerning dancers with legs painted for certain roles; some time ago, The Mask noted that Mr. Léon Bakst is the one to take the credit for this — this artist has designed many shows for Ballet Russ and painted the legs of ballet dancers in New York to make their images more expressive and full of character. Notably, it is for this reason that Miss Gertrude Hoffmann is so fashionable now. She will be remembered for numerous excellent shows, including Salome, Chanticleer parody sketch, and Zobeide in Scheherazade.
