Photos that create the illusion of 3-D reality have been a popular pastime since the nineteenth century. Stereoscopes and the accompanying stereographs were features of many middle class American parlors, taking users to distant lands with their famous sights. Later, the same concept became the basis for the View-Master, an inductee to the National Toy Hall of Fame. The Stereo Realist camera, the most popular stereo camera ever made, was manufactured from 1947 to 1971.
