Journalist Steve Kroft tells the story of how 60 Minutes arranged an interview with Bill and Hillary Clinton during the 1992 presidential campaign, which aired in a special edition of the show following the Super Bowl.
“I said to [George Stephanopoulos], ‘George, you know we’ve got a problem because we don’t really have a show. But we can run it after the game.’ And he says, ‘What game?’ And I said, ‘The Super Bowl.’ He says, ‘You mean this would run after the Super Bowl?’ I said, ‘Yeah.’ Everything was set after that.”
