Steven Claydon’s works are full of intentional contradictions. He uses old and new, natural and man-made and modern and traditional objects to create his sculptures and installations. For this presentation of his work, Claydon has engaged with the architecture of the gallery to present a series of sculptures and site-specific interventions that activate the space around them. Here he suggests an expanded field of sculpture, working with solid materials that are often not what they seem, as well as with the immaterial forces of light, smell and sound.
