Still Life with Peonies

Elena Popea's favourite genres in the early period, between her first artistic attempts and the end of the First World War, were still lifes and interiors. Flowers are a symbol of femininity, harmony, beauty and fragility. The oil paste, with its marked consistency, covers the support with visible brushstrokes, following the anatomy of the plant.
