Łempicka was born as Tamara Gurwik-Górska. The date of her birth is not fully known because the artist has changed her words about the day of her birth many times. She owes her name to her first husband, Tadeusz, with whom (after being released from custody) she moved to Paris. In a new place, she became a portraitist of elites and bohemians, and her paintings were characterized by geometrical forms and shapes, cubism, vivid colors and expressive backgrounds. Tamara Łempicka's paintings are sold at foreign auctions for huge amounts, and the collectors of her works include Madonna or Jack Nicholson. The title "Still Life" is one of the two paintings in Polish museum collections.
