Stoke Park landscape park was laid out by Lancelot 'Capability' Brown in circa 1750. It was one of his first commissions after he set up on his own as a landscape improver. The park was later modified by Nathaniel Richmond in the late 1760s and by Humphry Repton. A golf course was laid out on the site in 1908.
