An architectural element, limestone carved in relief with a variety of vegetal and floral motifs. From the Umayyad citadel complex of Amman, Jordan, and dated to the reign of the Umayyad Caliph Hisham. The site is extensively damaged, leaving only two main standing structures, a so-called vestibule to the south and an iwan to the north. The shape and decoration of the blocks suggest that they came from door or gateway jambs. Whilst Sassanian type wings appear in some of the niches of the vestibule, no pilasters or bands of precisely this description are recorded in Almagro Gorbea's study and the carvings may have come from any major structure within the complex. There are thirteen other component parts held in the collection.
