Only the ground stone, lower pedestal stone, and octagonal pillar stone remain from this lantern, which was moved to the museum for restoration from Gyeongjueupseong Fortress. Its restored height is 563cm, making it the largest stone lantern remaining from the Unified Silla Period. Judging by the sculpting technique used to form the image of the guardian and the other designs, it is estimated to have been made sometime between the end of the 8th century and the beginning of the 9th century.
