Stone Projectile Point

Small stemmed projectile point manufactured from a white chalcedony, burned, creating an opaque surface. Blade is long and triangular with very pronounced serrations close to the base and less marked serrations towards the tip. Deep side notches create a short stem, just above a straight base a very slight indentation. In cross-section, one face has a pronounced ridge, while the other is relatively flat. This point was recovered from a compound room located in a habitation area of the Pueblo Grande site. Pueblo Grande was a large village located at the headgates of a major canal system. Occupied as early as AD 500, the site reached its greatest extent during the Classic Period. Museum Accession: 1996.17
