This commemorative funerary statue is a monument, with the male figure either representing a tribal chief or a rich person, riding on a mythical creature that is part horse, part elephant and part dragon. The statue was created when the deceased was being prepared for a second funeral, which is performed when the skeletal remains of the dead are placed inside a coffin. The function of such a statue is to remind the descendants of their departed ancestor.
