These stone swords were used during the end of the Jōmon Period (approximately 3,000 years ago). This stone has the shape of a katana because of two characteristics: first, there is a bump at the end of the sword that looks like the rear side of a handle, and second, one side of the blade has a thin edge. There is a flat cylindrical portion as well. Near the bump at the end of the sword, there is a small portion of the sword that has a notch where the edge begins.
