I made this piece in one of the online meetings our Foundation Club group had together. We had all been set a task to make a unique placard with a message about something that was important to us. We were given 5 minutes to construct it. I made mine from different coloured letter beads and wrote the message 'stop and think' using them. I chose this message because I loved how open it was interpretation by each person that read it (I thought of how important it is to think about our impact on the environment, for example). After that I attached the beads containing my message to some cord so you could even wear my 'placard' as a bracelet. I really loved how it turned out.
This piece was made at BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art as part of Arts Council England's The Way I See It project which captures the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic on the lives of children and young people, articulated in their own voices, through their own creativity.
BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, Gateshead creates and produce exhibitions, events and learning opportunities that explore the role of art and artists, and the world around us.
