Stories from the New Testament, view of Milan Duomo's stained-glass window 19

Window V19 of Milan Duomo is dedicated to the stories of the New Testament that tell of the life of Jesus Christ. The creation of the glass was entrusted right from the early years of the 15th century to the best artists of the time. Starting in 1830, all of the 14th and 15th-century panels that were originally placed in the stained-glass window were moved to other windows, so as to leave space for a modern stained-glass window. Stained-glass window 19 today has 19th-century panels, the work of Giovanni Battista Bertini and his sons Giuseppe and Pompeo who, in the 19th century, were engaged in the formidable restoration and renovation of the Duomo's glass heritage. The episodes are read from left to right, low to high. This imposing work, together with the other two apse windows, is amongst the largest Gothic stained-glass windows in the world.
