Josef describes the medical experimentation performed on him as well as 14 other Jewish boys in Auschwitz. He recalls the horrifying surgery he underwent, as the Mengdele removed one of his testicles. He desrcibes his feelings during the process and his confusion as he was sent back to barracks immediately after the operation. He also mentions how it seemed as though each boy recieved a different type of surgery. For example, one boy lost both testicles, while another kept all of his, but instead, had a burning ointment applied.
