Mihaly explains that, despite all circumstances, the Jewish people did whatever they could to observe their religious holidays. He explains some methods of obersavtion during Passover and goes on to mention how the Germans, being aware of Jewish holidays, who purposely associate selection days with Jewish holidays. He explains that the Germans were determined to anything that could torment and destroy Jewish hope. But Mihaly states that the Jewish people were strong and clever, describing how on Hanukkah the prisons of Auschwitz would wait until the guards had gone to bed to light candles and observe the holiday
