The wood fuelled stove was installed when the house was built in 1927. The family still continued to use the stove after the introducation of electric ovens.
While the electric stove was effective for cooking cakes, and in summer, the electric stove did not 'heat up' the house, the family preferred cooking their roast dinners and other favourites in the wood fuelled stove.
