Emílio de Paula Campos was born on 6 October 1884 and died on 14 June 1943. He studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts, which allowed him to compete, for example, in the contest for the monument of Marquês de Pombal, where he won the 3rd prize. In meanwhile, he began to dedicate his activity to painting, namely as aquarellist. He was a professor at the Escola de Arte Aplicada António Arroio. He exhibited very little, however, it was made an exhibition of his works in the Sociedade Nacional de Belas-Artes, organized by other artists. After his death, it was created in his honor the Sala-Museu Paula Campos, in Azenhas do Mar, meanwhile extinct (about the end of the sixties, beginning of the 70's of the twentieth century).
