Edward Field came to Pont-Aven in 1882 and stayed with other painters at the Hotel Julia. He returned to Brittany in 1885 and established an address in Pont-Aven. This panel from the Pension Gloanec in Pont-Aven was passed down from one member of the hotelier family to the next until its acquisition by the Museum. The walls of the dining room were decorated with painted panels, gifts of the artists to Marie-Jeanne Gloanec (1839–1915).
