Study for "Maria", Wall Painting in Tamatsukuri Cathedral, Osaka

A study for Catholic Tamatsukuri Church (1)Insho was commissioned to produce paintings for the Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Osaka, which had been destroyed during the war. The new cathedral would be built on the former site of Tadaoki Hosokawa's mansion, the site of martyrdom of his wife, Gracia Hosokawa (1562-1600).
