"Dumbo," the animated movie released in 1941, features a young elephant who suffers merciless ridicule because of his large ears. When Dumbo's mother is caged for protecting her child from tormenters, Dumbo befriends a mouse that helps make him a circus star. The successful aerial performer eventually reunites with his mother, and all is happy under the Big Top. In 1947 the Gund Manufacturing Company began a long-lasting partnership with Walt Disney Productions, creating plush figures of popular characters like Mickey Mouse and Minnie, Donald Duck, Daisy, and Donald's three nephews, Snow White, Dumbo, Lady and the Tramp, Mary Poppins, Winnie the Pooh, and others. These days, Gund offers soft toys of more recent Disney movies like "The Aristocats," "Monsters, Inc.," and "Cars."
