This 9 mm (0.35") Largo submachine gun was made in the A Coruña arms factory and began to be distributed among the Civil Guard in 1940. Based on the German submachine gun Erma-Vollmer, or EMP35, it was modified for use with the regulation caliber of the corps. A swivel safety system was also installed to block the chamber when closed in order to prevent it firing accidentally if knocked. Initially known as an automatic submachine gun, it was also known as the Model 1940, Model 1942, Model C, and finally Model Coruña. At the end of the 1960s, this model was retired and replaced by those made by the Star company.
