Substantial savings in time and money are being achieved by the General Electric Company's J-47 jet engine plant near here through the use of an industrial "Erector set" composed of interlocking blocks, clamps, bolts, bushings and other parts which can be assembled an almost infinite number of combinations similar to the fixture shown above. The Wharton system consists of approximately 450 basic pieces which are used to assemble dependable "temporary" tooling to almost any design with the set.
