Leading Suffragettes identified as Vera Wentworth, Mrs. Keegan, Sylvia Pankhurst, Emmeline Pethick Lawrence, Elsa Gye and Charlotte Marsh celebrating the release of MrsTanner from two months imprisonment, 3 December 1908. Mrs Tanner was one of 24 women and 12 men arrested for their part on the Suffragette 'raid' on the House of Commons on 13th October 1908.
Breakfast receptions were often held for released suffragette prisoners. Mrs Tanner had been escorted from Holloway prison to the reception in central London in a horse drawn carriage driven by Suffragettes wearing country clothes as seen in the photograph.
