These suits were created by leading fashion designers of the 1980s. Claude Montana won popularity for the powerful beauty of his designs, which were sometimes described as powerful. Anne-Marie Beretta led the fashion in Paris in the 1980s by introducing daily wear for intellectual women, utilizing sewing skills she had learned at haute couture fashion houses.
In 1979 Margaret Thatcher (1925–) became prime minister in the UK, and social changes brought about by gender equality took place in the 1980s. In those days, active women took to fashions like broad and high shoulders, and mini skirts, powerful fashions that supported them in confronting male-dominated society.
