In Kristek’s paintings, it is the rose that often intergrows. In his painting Suite for Biophilic Piano Attacked by Masochistic Tuba it grows through the piano, just as in the sculpture on the roof of the artist’s Chateau. In the article by Vlastimil Mrva titled Where Do the Piano Wings Fly? (Kam odlétají klavírní křídla, 52/1994, p. 28) published in the Mladý Svět magazine, Kristek revealed: „That thing on the roof is obviously a metamorphosis; I like anything pierced or intergrown with flora that is immortal. It can be an old sofa, although what I love is the piano, because I make artistic compositions with its entrails. Every year, I consume about twelve gifted pianos. Such that were played. The piano is my vital prop that I cannot explain.“
