Suka was the son of the sage Vyasa, and the main narrator of the Bhagavata Purana.
According to the Mahabharata, after a hundred years of austerity by Vyasa, Śuka was churned out of a stick of fire, and was born with ascetic power and the Vedas dwelling inside him, like his father.
