Jakarta, Indonesia

One of the most important status symbols of a king or sultan is the royal throne. Other regalia depicting royal status include weaponry, such as, shields and spears, and also the royal umbrella or parasol. These items are, during formal ceremonies, always placed near the sovereign.
This particular throne once belonged to Sultan Adam Alwasiqubillah, the 29th king of Banjar, counting from the Hindu era, or the 12th Sultan of Banjar, since the arrival of Islam. It was during his reign that written Islamic law was formally adopted for the kingdom of Banjar.
